Financial Reporting Accountant

We are looking for a highly motivated and positive individual to join our team as a Financial Reporting Accountant. As a Financial Reporting Accountant, you will be responsible for supporting significant aspects of our quarterly reporting to meet GAAP and SEC Requirements. SEC reporting includes 8-K's, 10-Q's and 10-K's, as well as quarterly press releases. In addition, this position creates reports and analyzes financial information that is provided to management and the Board of Directors.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Perform and/or assist with various higher-level finance/accounting tasks such as monthly Board reports, general ledger reconciliation, investment accounting, fixed asset accounting, lease accounting, and financial analysis and report generation.

  • Assist with review of derivative accounting files prepared by Secondary Marketing for completeness and accuracy and prepare necessary SEC disclosures.

  • Prepare and maintain documentation related to consolidated financial statements and footnotes in accordance with GAAP and SEC rules and regulations.

  • Complete disclosure checklists to ensure all required disclosures are included in SEC filings.

  • Assist with audit preparation efforts including tracking and providing required information to auditors.

  • Maintain documentation related to internal controls and ensure all assigned controls are completed in a timely manner.

  • Assist in ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records and transactions.

  • Complete special projects as assigned related to financial reporting and accounting.

  • Cross-train and provide back-up to other staff.

    Education and Experience Requirements

    4-year college degree in Accounting or Finance

    Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

    Applicable work experience

    Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)

    Education and Experience Preferences

    Minimum of 2 years' experience in accounting/finance profession or regulatory environment specific to banking, bank examining, auditing or financial statement preparation

    Experience with processes and regulations governing accounting in financial institutions

    Experience with financial statement and footnote preparation

    Public accounting or public company financial reporting experience is preferred.

    Experience with processes and regulations governing accounting in financial institutions is preferred.

    CPA designation is a plus.
