Description

We are looking for a Payroll Accountant in the Greenwood, South Carolina area. The selected individual will be responsible for various accounting and payroll duties. As part of this team, you will be expected to understand and manage a variety of accounting tasks, including reconciling payroll accounts and handling customer inquiries.

Responsibilities:

• Follow established policies and procedures to maintain payroll operations and report changes as necessary

• Proper payroll information maintenance by collecting, calculating, and entering data

• Draft relevant year-end reports, as well as weekly, monthly, and quarterly ones, for department heads

• Collect and analyze information including resolving payroll discrepancies

• Updating payroll records by entering changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job title and department/division transfers

• Detail all payroll liabilities by establishing employee federal and state income and social security taxes and employer social security, unemployment, and worker compensation payment

• Reviewing and verifying source documents

• Perform other tasks as necessary

• Answer questions and requests related to payroll information

• Promote employee confidence by protecting payroll operations and keeping information confidential

• Certify compliance with federal and state regulations and guidelines

• Manage issues related to employee deductions and other liabilities, including reconciling

• Compile summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages as part of report preparation

• Assist with the annual preparation of the budget and the financial report.

• Provide technical assistance to all department heads and accounting staff on policies, procedures, and guidelines related to accounting systems, and policy and procedure manuals

  Requirements

• Proficient knowledge of basic accounting principles and solid financial acumen

• Reliable skills in Microsoft Office with excellent Excel skills

• Certified Payroll Professional will be given preference

• Expertise in federal and state payroll regulations and requirements

• Practical knowledge of Process Bi-weekly Payroll

• Solid understanding of Full Cycle Payroll

• Strong familiarity with HRIS Payroll System

• General familiarity with Payroll Functions

• Background working with Weekly Payroll

• Demonstrated knowledge of manual payroll

• Expertise in HR Payroll System

• Knowledge of internal controls

• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to exercise good judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis

• Previous experience using accounting software

• Outstanding data entry skills

• Previous experience handling high volume multi-state payroll, billing, licensing, AP, etc
