M&T Bank Master Enterprise Architect - Cloud & Infrastructure in Abilene, Kansas

FUNCTION:

Documents, visualizes, and articulates the value chains, technical health, and current/target states of one or more domains in collaboration with technology leadership. Develops roadmaps alongside product owners and technology teams - incorporating industry trends, best practices, and personal insights while connecting them with the broader Enterprise Technology landscape ensuring alignment to technology strategies, standards, and policies.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Leverage expertise in technical and business strategy to collaborate with Technology domain leadership to support strategic decision making.

  • Identify, analyze, review, and evaluate ideas and opportunities to support the product roadmap with technologies for the targeted domain

  • Participate in the EA Governance processes including preparation for, and delivery of, architecture reviews, artifact oversight reviews, and process compliance.

  • Create, regularly update, and continuously leverage EA artifacts such as roadmaps, value chains, and tech health reporting.

  • Provide thought leadership and build strong stakeholder partnerships to articulate current state, target state, and domain roadmaps

  • Provide architectural oversight within the domain / function across architecture areas – application, data, cloud and infrastructure, cybersecurity, and integration

  • Research, understand and apply existing, new and emerging technologies and trends to determine their potential impact on technology domains.

  • Conduct analysis and identify opportunities and approaches for solving domain problems that may include new products, new platforms, or system enhancements

  • Participate in the evaluation and selection of new enterprise software products and platforms.

  • Provide advisory services to domain leadership to improve technology planning, delivery, operational efficiency, cost management, and app rationalization.

  • Create and maintain reference materials for use by the technical delivery team to ensure consistent and compliant solutions for enterprise level architecture patterns.

  • Participate in the planning and design of strategic initiatives that require architecture guidance.

  • Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.

  • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.

  • Understand and adhere to M&T’s risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls in accordance with the company’s risk appetite; identify risk-related issues needing escalation

  • Additional duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 9 years of relevant work experience , or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 13 years’ higher education and/or work experience

  • Experience in driving and delivering innovation within the domains of cloud, on-prem/colo infrastructure, and connectivity thereof

  • Broad technical understanding of multiple cloud disciplines, including Hybrid Cloud architecture approaches, Azure IaaS, PaaS, container strategy, serverless compute, storage, migration approaches, and FinOps

  • Experience with automation and orchestration, infrastructure and operations, enterprise integration, application architecture, cybersecurity architecture with respect to Hybrid Cloud and external hosting best practice

  • Working knowledge of software development lifecycle, Agile practices, CI/CD Pipelines, and common technology stacks/platforms

  • Experience architecting or managing large system installs, upgrades, enhancements, and/or conversions

  • Working knowledge of architecture diagramming practices, architectural frameworks, and/or enterprise architecture tools

  • Experience in software engineering, software delivery, and/or solution architecture

  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, organizational, and time management skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with experience presenting to executives and senior leadership

Education and Experience Preferred

  • Graduate degree in business or technical discipline

  • Certification and experience working with Cloud technologies and vendors

  • Experience working in diversified technology environments (mainframe/distributed, cloud/on-premise/colo, SaaS, etc.)

  • Experience working in the financial services industry, ideally in three or more technical roles related to banking technology (delivery, support, architecture, etc.)

  • Experience in driving and delivering innovation opportunities within the realm of banking related to cloud and infrastructure implementations

  • High level understanding of all architecture domains (business, application, information/data, technology/infrastructure, and cybersecurity)

  • Good understanding of strategic and new and emerging technology trends, and the practical application of existing, new, and emerging technologies

  • Experience working in an Agile environment (Agile Scrum / Scaled Agile)

  • Certification in enterprise architecture frameworks

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $154,629.62 - $257,716.03 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation. The range listed above corresponds to our national pay range for this role. The specific pay range applicable to you may vary based on your location.
