Bio-Techne Assistant Accountant in Abingdon, Minnesota

The European headquarters is based in Abingdon, UK with a manufacturing facility in Bristol and subsidiaries in Ireland, France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Poland, Hungary and Czech Republic.

Position Summary

The Assistant Accountant supports the finance team on day-to-day activities, including ownership of month end and year end processes, VAT reporting (locally and overseas), and balance sheet reconciliations. The role contributes to the delivery of the accurate monthly management accounts and year end statutory financial statements on a timely basis.

Essential Functions

  • Key contributor to delivery of the month end close process and management accounts, including several legal entities across multiple countries.

  • Ownership of balance Sheet reconciliations and variance analysis.

  • Maintain intercompany trading and sundry balances; following up and clearing down differences.

  • Maintain fixed asset registers.

  • Preparation of data for foreign subsidiaries’ routine VAT and Intrastat filings.

  • Preparation of data for foreign subsidiaries’ local statutory accounts

  • Sales reporting for the EMEA region, including deferred revenue calculations and reconciliations.

  • Supporting role in year end and interim EMEA group audit in support of the US audit with external auditors.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • AAT qualified (or equivalent by experience)

  • Demonstrable experience of working in a similar role

  • Excellent IT skills, including advanced level Microsoft Excel

Skills required/desired:

  • Strong accounting background

  • Experience working with ERP systems.

  • Knowledge of Dynamics 365 would be beneficial.

  • Knowledge of UK GAAP, IFRS and US GAAP is desirable but not essential.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (foreign language skills beneficial but not essential)
