JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Penn State Abington is seeking a dynamic and innovativePart-Time Instructional Designerto join our team. Reporting to the Director of Online Learning and Information Technology, this role offers a hybrid working arrangement, 20-24 hoursper week at a rate of $30 hourly, with at least 12 hours on-campuseach week. The schedule is flexible and can be tailored to best fit both the campus needs and employee availability. The ideal candidate will support approximately 300 full-time and part-time faculty members in course design, learning management system (LMS) support, technology integration, and professional development. Job Duties Provide dedicated support to adjunct and full-time faculty in instructional design, helping maintain high instructional quality. Collaborate with faculty to develop new courses, offering expertise in instructional strategies, course alignment, and the integration of educational technology tools. Support the creation and implementation of consistent course structures and templates to foster cohesive online and hybrid learning experiences. Consult with faculty on designing assessments that align with course outcomes and promote effective learning. Manage LMS administration, including providing troubleshooting support and training faculty on best practices for online course delivery. Assist in developing and delivering faculty training workshops on instructional technologies, pedagogical methods, and assessment tools. Collaborate with instructional designers from other Penn State campuses to ensure shared resources and strategies are utilized effectively. Requirements and Qualifications Master's degree in Instructional Systems, Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or a related field. Expertise in higher education pedagogy, course design, and technology integration. Experience in LMS management and administration, preferably with systems like Canvas. Strong skills in assessment design, faculty consultation, and training. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience in a higher education setting, working directly with faculty and academic technology. Familiarity with instructional design frameworks and best practices for online and hybrid course delivery.
