New York University Research Technician in the Center for Genomics and Systems Biology (CGSB) - Dr. Michael Purugganan in Abu Dhabi, United States

The Center for Genomics and Systems Biology (CGSB) at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) invites applications from individuals to be appointed as a Research Technician. The position will be based at NYU Abu Dhabi and supervised by Prof. Michael Purugganan (remotely) and Dr. Tiago Capote (in-person).

The candidate will be working under the Date Palm Genome Diversity Project of the NYUAD CGSB, which studies the genomics and evolution of date palms and other plant species, both to address fundamental questions in plant biology and also to help lay the foundation for plant breeding and biotechnology.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing technical assistance to the Date Palm Genome Diversity Project. This will include carrying out a wide range of molecular biological experiments, with an emphasis on next generation DNA and RNA sequencing and in vitro plant tissue culture. The research technician will also be responsible for all aspects of laboratory maintenance, organization and administration, including ensuring that all laboratory permits are updated, all samples are organized and readily available, and any other activities that may be required for the smooth functioning of laboratory operations. Proficiency in Word, Excel and other office software is desirable.
