Summary

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support our work with the U.S. Army Research Laboratory in Adelphi, MD. As the organizational expert you will provide technical expertise to perform Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E) studies and analyses for Defense Systems. This includes Systems related to new and emerging technologies as well as development of mitigation strategies that can enhance military systems, subsystems, and components, particularly technology insertion and rapid prototyping to enhance the performance of legacy systems. HII has been providing engineering and management support to the U.S. Army Research Laboratory for over 10 years, and the exciting work we do for this customer keeps growing with new and continued support in RDT&E. What You Will Do

  • Researches, plans, designs, verifies, validates and develops mechanical and/or electromechanical products and systems, such as metals, instruments, controls, plastics, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, resonance, hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy.

  • Recommends various technology options or approaches for system, processes, facility, or program improvements in terms of safety, performance, efficiency, or costs.

  • May be responsible for the transfer from R&D to manufacturing.

What We Are Looking For: Minimum Qualifications

  • 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or 0 years’ experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field.

  • Design experience of 2-phase closed-loop cooling systems.

Preferred: Bonus Points For

  • Experience with wire bonders, infrared systems, laser optical equipment.

  • Experience in U.S. Army tactical operations.

  • Environmental Protection Agency Section 608 Universal Certification.
