Job Overview:

Responsible for developing, implementing and/or administering safety, health, and environmental protection prevention programs affecting employee and public safety, occupational health, fire protection and prevention, and equipment and property protection. Ensures compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations including OSHA and USACE EM 385-1-1.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • This is a safety critical position requiring independent professional judgment. This position includes technical responsibility for a major phase or component of a complex demolition project.

  • Serves as a resource for line management to execute and administer a proactive prevention program for accidents, injuries and illnesses.

  • Provides daily field safety oversight and support to construction crews conducting demolition, rigging, material handling, heavy equipment operation.

  • Provides technical assistance to office and field operations to ensure compliance with applicable international, federal, state and/or company environmental, safety, and health regulations.

  • Conducts compliance evaluations of equipment, structures, and work in progress to ensure that regulatory environmental, safety, and health standards of the company and all applicable codes are followed.

  • Recommends facilities and technological specifications to carry out programs that fulfill the organization's overall objectives.

  • Prepares and reviews technical reports, correspondence, and procedures manuals. Establishes and maintains licenses and permits as required.

  • Meet applicable regulatory codes and standards where required. Internal contacts will include site management, risk management personnel, work crews,

  • Health and Safety personnel and office managers. External contacts include clients at work locations and regulatory agencies.

Basic Qualifications:

  • This individual exhibits knowledge and applies the fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of their health, safety and environmental (HSE) specialty.

  • Under minimal supervision, performs complex duties utilizing advanced techniques and diversified knowledge of HSE principles.

  • Uses independent judgment and discretion in data analysis and problem resolution.

  • A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.

  • Other duties as assigned.training / education and is approved by the Director of Safety for the hiring business unit.

  • Acts as a key contributor in a complex and critical environment

  • Applies relevant skills and knowledge of the industry and regulatory requirements to address complex problems and nonstandard situations

  • Anticipates customer needs and identifies solutions

  • Solves complex problems; takes a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions

  • Manages own time to meet objectives; forecasts and plans resource requirements

  • Explains difficult concepts and persuades others to adopt a point of view

  • Motivates other team members; may be team leader.

  • Multiple positions available with a range of field safety experience, degree in an EHS curricula or a closely related curricula or applicable certification (CHST, ASP, CSP) preferred.

  • Role will require long periods of walking/standing daily

  • Basic computer skills/use of software applications required.

  • Positions will be 80-90% field with short daily periods of office work for document preparation and submittal.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Recognized safety certification such as CHST, ASP, CSP

  • Three years related experience

  • Bachelors degree in related field a plus
