Cleveland Clinic Core Lab Supervisor in Akron, Ohio

A caregiver in this position works Days + Calls, from 7:00am-3:30pm.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Train, evaluate, and when necessary, discipline departmental personnel in accordance with established policies and procedures for their laboratory section.

  • Manage work schedules and work assignments to ensure adequate staff coverage for efficient processing of section work activities.

  • Monitor and coordinate quality control/quality assurance programs and initiate corrective action in response to any deficiency.

  • Ensure that all requirements for CAP, JCAHO and CLIA accreditation are met and that the section complies with all hospital, local, state and federal safety regulations.

  • Ensure that procedures are followed to provide accurate test results with optimum turnaround time to enhance quality of patient care.

  • Evaluate new equipment and instrument needs, may prepare cost justification and makes recommendations for purchase.

  • Monitor budget to maintain expenses within allocated funds; justifies variances in all expense categories.

  • Implement cost containment measures consistent with departmental goals.

  • Aid in developing systems to detect, correct and prevent potential problems of noncompliance with Medicare, Medicaid and third-party payor regulations and reports potential compliance problems to the Laboratory Director and/or Compliance Department of the Health System.

  • May require travel between different sites

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Doctorate, master's or bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological

  • OR clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution.

  • Master's Degree, preferably in Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Sciences, MBA or the equivalent.

  • One year training in an approved program.

  • Registry/Certification as Medical Technologist/ Clinical Laboratory Scientist level (CH M or MT) or Cytotechnologist (CT).

  • Four years of laboratory experience which includes increasing levels of responsibilities within a clinical laboratory.
