[SC00] As a participant in the Co-op/Intern Professional Development Program, you will be cultivating professional skills and performing professional level work. You won't just be sitting in meetings and shadowing all summer; you'll be actively contributing and doing the same work as other FirstEnergy employees on your team. You'll receive on-the-job training and challenging assignments. You will also be assigned a Supervisor, a Coach/Mentor and a dedicated IT Intern Program Coordinator to help you maximize your learning and growth throughout your summer... and beyond. Internships with FirstEnergy are full-time, paid opportunities spanning 14 weeks. You must be actively enrolled in an accredited university or college. About the Cyber Security Systems Administrator Intern As a Cyber Security System Administrator Intern at FirstEnergy, you will have hands on experience supporting the servers, applications, workstations and/or mission critical application systems throughout the TSOC footprint. A Cyber Security System Administrator Intern must be self-motivated and have a desire to learn new and proprietary systems and dig deep into unfamiliar territory. Background technical knowledge listed below is beneficial for this position, however a truly successful Sys Admin is one that is self-motivated to learn new systems, dig deeper into issues and challenges, and always strive to learn more. This position's base reporting location will be Akron, OH. The position can be worked primarily remotely with occasional work on-site. Examples of possible job duties and responsibilities of a Cyber Security Systems Administrator: * Assist in incident management including investigation, problem resolution and root cause analysis * Assist in monthly and quarterly patching activities along with system upgrades * Utilize monitoring tools to proactively identify problems with systems, applications, and networks. * Create, update, and execute change requests, as directed * Provide feedback, develop and/or update team documentation repositories for accurate procedural instruction * This job does include some coding, report building and data analytics, however the focus of the position is traditional system administration duties Examples of possible roles an intern could have as a Cyber Security Systems Administrator: * Unix/Linux Server Administration: Supporting the installation, maintenance, upgrade, and administration of UNIX/Linux servers. * Microsoft Server & PC Administration: Supporting the installation, maintenance, upgrade, and administration of Microsoft Server and some PC Administration * Application Maintenance: Upgrade and maintain all applications utilized by the Transmission Security Operations Center (TSOC) Applicant Requirements: * Currently enrolled, full time, in a bachelor's degree program at an accredited university/college focusing on Computer Science, Data Science, Cyber Security or techApply here: https://www.aplitrak.com/?adid=YmJnZW5lcmljLjM5MzQyLjEwNTA4QGZpcnN0ZW5lcmd5Y29tcC5hcGxpdHJhay5jb20
