Albany Technical College Welding Technology /Instructor (FT) in Albany, Georgia

Albany Technical College seeks a well-qualified, highly motivated individual to fill the position of Welding Technology Instructor. Under general supervision he/she will provide quality instruction for Welding Technology courses at the College.He/she will prepare lesson plans and deliver instruction through innovative methods that are more hands-on, project-based and experiential learning. The Welding Technology Instructor will Identify and prepare instructional materials that will enhance student learning and are relevant to industry. He/she will provide learner guidance and academic advisement to students, evaluate students progress and performance in attaining goals and objectives and prepare and maintain all required documentation and administrative reports. The Welding Instructor will maintain a safe and secure classroom environment, prepare lesson plans and deliver classroom, laboratory, and on-line instructions for all Welding Technology courses. He/she will develop course syllabi for courses, provide a high quality of instruction, develop and implement student assessment strategies that will evaluate student progress and learning outcomes, and keep an accurate record of student grades and attendance. The Welding Technology Instructor will provide proper academic advisement to students, serve as a mentor and role model to students in the achievement of their learning and career goals, develop and implement program recruitment and retention strategies, develop and maintain an active program advisory committee, assist with career placement of students and collaborate with business partners to identify workforce needs. He/she will maintain industry related certification(s), seek out other professional development opportunities, and participate in college sponsored events (i.e. graduation ceremony, enrollment and recruitment, etc.). The candidate must be up-to-date on current exam topics and welding codes, he/she must have excellent verbal, written, interpersonal and organizational skills and be willing to work a flexible schedule, including online, days, evenings and some weekends. The successful candidate must be highly motivated, have functional knowledge of Microsoft (MS) Office Suite, and possess appropriate diplomacy and critical thinking skills. Travel within the Service Delivery Area is vital. Minimum Qualifications: The applicant MUST have at least a technical diploma in the Welding Technology field from an accredited technical college or university AND have at least three (3) years of experience in TIG, Pipe, Gas Metal Arc, Gas Tungsten Arc, Basic Structural Steel, and/or Shielded Metal Arc Welding. *Preferred Qualifications: The applicant MUST have an Associate of Applied Science Degree from a regional accredited technical/community college or university in Welding Technology or related program, five (5) years of work related experience *ANDexperience teaching secondary and/or adult students in post-secondary education setting AND experience working with adult students in higher education. *Physical Demands: Responsibilities are typically performed in []{st=""}*
