Albany Medical Center seeks a Director of Campaigns to lead Albany Medical Center and Albany Medical Colleges’ comprehensive campaigns. For the right candidate, this is an opportunity to make an unprecedented impact in the field of academic medical center and healthcare philanthropy. The Director is the central organizer responsible for orchestrating all the necessary resources and elements to successfully plan and conduct multi-year campaigns. The Director develops each campaign’s plan and operating framework and oversees all the administrative aspects of each campaign. S/he helps to identify, recruit, and organize the key players, marshals the required resources, and leads the necessary planning, delivery, and evaluation activities. To accomplish these responsibilities, s/he collaborates with individuals and teams that include Foundation staff, Foundation and Albany Med Health System leadership as well as campaign volunteers, donors, physicians and clinical leaders, vendors, and campaign counsel.

Reporting to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement, the Director maintains expert-level knowledge in current and evolving trends in capital and comprehensive campaigns. The ideal candidate excels at strategic planning and project management.

Salary Range : $80,151.00 - 132,249.00 USD Annual

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Design, plan, implement, manage, and oversee all administrative aspects of multi-year capital and comprehensive campaigns in support of Albany Medical Center and Albany Medical College.

  • Produce high-level campaign timelines and detailed underlying project plans that include benchmarks, milestones, deliverables, goals, and key players.

  • Assist in training campaign volunteer committees, including scheduling and participating in all meetings.

With this responsibility, there will be a dotted line reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Individual Giving.

  • In concert with Foundation leadership and front-line development staff, participate in developing strategies for identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of new and existing donors.

  • Design, launch and maintain processes for identifying and tracking approved funding priorities that will be included within each campaign.

  • Work with marketing and communications and other partners to develop campaign branding and messaging including the case prospectus, case for support, other relevant collateral, and branded merchandise.

  • Collaborate with the Director of Prospect Research and Analytics to leverage data analytics and predictive modeling to develop campaign gift tables.

  • Evaluate campaign progress and provide progress reports to Foundation and Albany Med Health System leadership and campaign volunteers.

  • Assist Vice President in creating and managing campaign budgets.

  • Represent the Foundation at fundraising and Center events, in the community and among peer professionals in a manner that generates respect and goodwill.

  • Adhere to the highest levels of professional conduct including appropriate attire, appearance, and behavior in the workplace and while representing Albany Med.

  • Perform duties and responsibilities according to Albany Med Health System’s Code of Conduct and Employee Manual; be timely and accurate in all documentation and record-keeping; use good judgment when performing the functions of the job and interacting with colleagues and stakeholders; accept direction and respond professionally to achieve desired result; work cooperatively with others on our team and throughout the Albany Med Health System; adhere to Albany Med Health System’s policies, procedures and practices; and, utilize Albany Med Health System’s problem-solving processes for resolving grievances or disagreements.

  • Accept other assignments as directed.

Qualifications:

  • Development/Fundraising: Proven success in development for a large nonprofit. Experience running capital campaigns and success fundraising from multiple donor channels is preferred.

  • Project Leadership: Experience in planning, leading, and managing development projects, including coordinating with peers to achieve desired outcomes, and tracking and reporting on progress to senior managers.

  • Entrepreneurial and Collaborative Spirit: this position will be comfortable in a results-driven environment and committed to a “best practices” approach. An entrepreneurial drive and collaborative spirit will define the success of this position.

  • Communications: Skilled in creating powerful, compelling written and oral communications for fundraising. Ability to convey complex ideas through brief, simple materials. Experience and credibility when presenting materials to external audiences.

  • Relationship Building: Skilled at establishing and cultivating strong relationships with peers, volunteers and donors, across different levels of the organization and externally.

  • Experience: A minimum of seven to ten years fundraising experience in major/leadership gifts involving direct cultivation and solicitation of donors or similar experience is required. Experience in leading a campaign is preferred and experience in a healthcare and/or education setting is very helpful.

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, with advanced degree preferred.
