Human Resources Generalist
Duties & Responsibilities
As a subject matter expert on HR onboarding and offboarding processes, will be responsible for driving continuous improvement along with the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures.
Plan, coordinate and execute onboarding for projects including tracking and reporting on status, risks, issues and dependencies. Partner closely with client and project leads, Talent Acquisition, payroll, and benefits to provide a positive, engaging, and efficient new hire onboarding experience. These projects range in scale with cohort hiring classes of up to 100 or more employees.
Execute onboarding and offboarding tasks for individual hires, cohort hires, terminations and RIFs. Performs audits to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, federal and state regulations (e.g. final pay laws) and accuracy of data entry into the HRMS. Ensures all processes are performed in compliance with the legal and statutory requirements, specific client/project policies, and within agreed SLAs.
Responsible for tier 2 inquiries from employees on various employment matters including policy questions, paid time off, onboarding and offboarding, and related matters. Provide employees with accurate, consistent and timely responses and explanations regarding HR related questions and issues on policies, processes and procedures, with the goal to solve the question or issue at the first initial contact with exceptional customer service.
Develops and maintains a collaborative relationship with management, client and project leads while providing accurate and timely responses to inquiries and data requests.
Escalates matters to tier 3 subject matter experts as necessary and ensures resolution to close tickets/inquiries in a timely manner.
Accurate and timely data entries into HRMS system and related HR technologies with an understanding of downstream implications of changes that may need to be reviewed. Performs audits to verify accuracy and proactively identify errors.
Development and maintenance of HR related metrics and reports from HRMS.
Understands and provides counsel on employment law and regulations with a focus on the continual improvement of knowledge base in the legal and human resources disciplines.
Provides problem resolution to complaints received by employees and partners with management, project leads and clients to produce desired outcomes.
Partners with payroll to address time sheet questions and to help ensure wage and hour compliance.
Performs other duties as necessary to support business objectives, including, but not limited to providing support to other functional areas of HR (recruiting, payroll, leave management, benefits administration, etc.).

Must be detail oriented and demonstrate experience managing multiple tasks simultaneously
Must be enthusiastic, flexible, dependable and professional
Must keep confidentiality and use discretion
Multi-state employment law knowledge with preferred expertise with the state of New York regulations
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Microsoft Teams or related technologies
Strong data entry skills with focus on accuracy
Must demonstrate sound judgement and strong critical thinking skills.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management or equivalent related discipline; Significant (5+years) relevant experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
Minimum Experience
Preferred Experience
3-5 years of experience in the Human Resources field with exposure to multiple disciplines. A minimum of one year of experience with compliance or audit processes.
3+ years of experience in an HR service center supporting multi-state employees responding to employee and manager inquiries and managing employee data in an HRIS. Project management experience highly preferred.
Working Conditions
Remote work setting and in-office as needed
The ideal candidate will have the ability to work onsite in SSO’s Albany office 1 to 2 days per week.
