Albany Medical Center Lab Supervisor - Pathology in Albany, New York

Salary Range: Min. $38.53/hr - Max $63.58/hr

The Laboratory Supervisor manages the day-to-day operations of the laboratory based on patient care needs, and regulatory and quality standards. The Supervisor has expertise and leadership in laboratory medicine in the specialty assigned. This position requires the exercise of independent judgement and responsibility for technical and administrative decisions for the laboratory in collaboration with the laboratory director(s). Other critical aspects include project management, budget development and maintenance; management of supplies and resources, administrative oversight of staffing issues including hiring, competency assessment, development and corrective actions.

EDUCATION, LICENSURE, REGISTRATION AND/OR CERTIFICATION:

  • Meets New York State Education Department requirements AND CLIA Clinical Laboratory Personnel Requirements for Clinical Laboratory Technologist, Histotechnologist, or Cytotechnologist AND be licensed by the NYSED as such.

  • Education must come from an accredited college or university and minimally a Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, chemical, physical, or biological science is required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Candidate with BS must have at least six years of pertinent clinical laboratory experience as a qualified Clinical Laboratory Technologist, Cytotechnologist or Histotechnologist OR

  • Candidate with appropriate master’s degree must have at least four years of pertinent laboratory experience with at least two years within the designated laboratory specialty AND

  • Extensive management experience required.
