We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Payroll Clerk in Albany, New York. The role involves providing support for biweekly payroll processing in a complex organizational setting and maintaining accurate payroll records. The successful candidate will join our team and contribute significantly to the smooth running of our payroll operations.

Job Overview:

• Duties include maintaining payroll information by collecting, calculating, and inputting data.

• Updates payroll records for changes in: Exemptions, Insurance coverage, Savings deductions, Job titles and department transfers

• Calculates payroll liabilities, such as: Employee federal and state income taxes, Social Security taxes, Employer contributions for unemployment and workers' compensation

• Provides direct customer service to employees by responding to payroll-related questions and requests.

• Ensures payroll operations are conducted efficiently by following established policies and procedures and reporting necessary changes.

• The role involves routine tasks that use standard accounting practices to maintain and review financial accounts and records.

• Works under general supervision with standard assignments, following clearly defined procedures.

• Supervisors are available to assist with unusual issues and provide instructions for new or complex assignments.

  Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent, plus two (2) years of full-time paid experience in maintaining financial accounts and records; OR

• Three (3) years of full-time paid experience in maintaining financial accounts and records.

• Experience in Payroll is preferred
