Responsibilities
The Program Research Specialist III will work in the Public Health Information Group (PHIG). The incumbent will be responsible for performing in-depth analyses of Prehospital Care Report (PCR) data with the input of Bureau of Emergency Medical and Trauma Services (BEMSATS). Data will be analyzed to generate results for legislatively mandated reports and support the needs of key stakeholders including DOH programs and external partners (Chamber, BEMSATS, local health departments, regional planning groups, opioid prevention coalitions, etc.). The incumbent will contribute toward the planning, design and implementation of surveillance activities. The incumbent will contribute to the development and implementation of various evaluation activities as needed and provide analytical support for analyzing several other important data sources. The incumbent will perform other appropriate related duties.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Informatics, Biostatistics, or a related field and three years of research experience in the collection and analysis of data; OR an Associate's degree in a related field and five years of such experience; OR seven years of such experience. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one year of such experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Public Health or related field and two years of experience in public health research and surveillance. Proficiency in data analysis, database and statistical software, interpretation and dissemination of data for varied audiences, and provision of surveillance and evaluation technical assistance. Background and experience with analyzing large public health data (pre-hospital care, emergency department, hospital discharge, vital statistic, BRFSS, and Medicaid data). Intermediate or advanced proficiency using SAS including proficient use of SAS BASE, SQL, GRAPH, STAT, ODS, MACRO. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated experience communicating effectively to various audiences in writing and verbally.
Conditions of Employment
Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.
Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
This position requires that the incumbent will report to the official work location and live within commuting distance to the official work location. Telecommuting will be available.
