Responsibilities
The Public Health Specialist I will assist and provide support to BOHIP's Program staff, local, state, and not-for-profit organizations to utilize data in prioritizing injury prevention programs throughout New York State.
The Public Health Specialist I will assist and provide support to subject matter experts to promote and disseminate BOHIP's preventive messaging to high-risk, underserved, and marginalized populations. The incumbent will assist with outreach by promoting BOHIP's materials at meaningful engagements in targeted communities.
This meaningful work will contribute towards increasing public awareness to help reduce injuries and deaths in New York State.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Public Health, a related Social Science, Epidemiology, or another related field; OR an Associate's degree in a related field and two years of experience in a public health, human services, or health related program/organization field; OR four years of such experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related Social Science, Health Science, or Epidemiology. Demonstrated, strong written and oral communication, skills. Demonstrated, strong organizational skills with attention to detail, handling multiple tasks, and activities. Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Conditions of Employment
Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.
Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
The incumbent in this position will be required to travel approximately 25%-50%. A valid driver's license in good standing will be required for areas where public transportation is unavailable.
This position requires that the incumbent will report to the official work location and live within commuting distance to the official work location. Telecommuting will be available.
This position requires occasional work on weekends, after-hours, and holidays.
