Corus Health Hospice Chaplain in Albuquerque, New Mexico

As a full-service hospice and home care agency providing a broad range of services to our customers, we are currently seeking a Chaplain will serve our Hospice patients providing spiritual support to patients & families, in keeping with their individual desires and belief systems. Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct spiritual support to patients/families.

  • Make contact with clergy or appropriate representatives of patient/families as indicated.

  • Develop and maintain a resource group of clergy to whom specific aspects of spiritual care may be delegated.

  • Participate in patient conference by exploring and assessing the potential spiritual needs of patients/families and reporting on services as indicated.

  • Maintain proper records of visits to patients/families.

  • Conduct or make arrangements for funeral or memorial services per patient family request.

  • Work with staff, clergy, health care professionals and community groups to enhance their sensitivity to the spiritual concerns of patients/families experiencing terminal illness and loss.

  • Assume responsibility for evening, weekends, and holidays on call duty as scheduled and consistent with the policies and procedures of agency.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and comfort with diverse ethnic and cultural beliefs/practices.

  • Thorough understanding of grief process (normal/abnormal, anticipatory, bereavement).

  • Proficient in counseling of the dying patient and bereaved.

  • Accountability in job performance and for improving job knowledge and skills.

  • Support agency’s philosophy, goals, objectives, mission, vision and values.

Requirements

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Complete understanding of Continuing Quality Improvement (CQI) process

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the grieving process

  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse ethnic and cultural population

  • Understanding of financial issues and community resources which may assist patient

  • Bereavement experience in varied multi-disciplinary settings

  • Minimum two years experience in health or related field required

  • Valid New Mexico driver's license and insured, reliable transportation

  • Accepts other assignments as appropriate
