Summary

ASM Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for the Security Manager for ASM Global/Albuquerque Convention Center including Kiva Auditorium, Parking Garage, Civic Plaza, and Jennifer Riordan Spark Kindness Sports Complex. The Security Manager is responsible for the management and performance of the Guest Services department. This position provides oversight, direction, and supervision of all matters related to safety and security of the patrons, employees, guests, contractors, and more for all the facilities and their immediate surrounding areas.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains safety policies, programs, and standard operation procedures to protect and minimize Facility liability exposures and losses. Implements improvements/changes as needed.

  • Works in coordination with General Manager, Assistant General Manager, and the Director of Event Services to identify, control, and rectify all safety and liability exposures. Recommends and implements changes or improvements as needed.

  • Ensures the highest possible level of customer service and safety and comfort to all patrons and employees.

  • Adopts a customer service philosophy and public relations approach to the performance of all duties. Establishes and promotes this philosophy with department staff.

  • Serves as the liaison with Federal, State and Local Law Enforcement agencies in the development of any investigations, asset protection programs or other.

  • Works in coordination with all appropriate law enforcement organizations and security associations to insure efficient operations and event requirements such as dignitary visits.

  • Directs and oversees the operational requirements of Guest Services department to assure the optimum and most cost-effective use of manpower and equipment.

  • Liaises with third-party security and other vendors, as necessary, to schedule and monitor contracted workers to fulfill safety and security requirements for all events.

  • For each event, reviews the client-provided Security Questionnaire and/or performs an adequate Risk Assessment to identify appropriate security needs.

  • Creates a color-coded Dot Map of security posts for event diagrams for each event.

  • Assist with the handling of complaints from guests or partners in relation to Guest Services.

  • Directs investigations related to security incidents, loss prevention issues, or other facility/company issues. Personally, directs and is involved in all incidents of an emergency, high priority, or sensitive nature. Submits Incident Reports in a timely manner in compliance with company policies.

  • Continually reviews, modifies, implements, and enacts all facets of the Emergency Response Plan for all Facilities.

  • Directs and oversees all programs and procedures related to fire prevention, emergency response, and emergency medical care.

  • Responsible for all security systems and key control issues. Works with all departments to assure compliance.

  • Assists in the completion of the annual budget and responsible for day-to-day budget compliance.

  • Performs required safety, security, and other training for key personnel across all departments.

  • Manages the daily open/close schedule for Parking Garage access for standard and modified operating hours based on event activity, and schedules appropriate parking attendant and security for daily operational management.

  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned to support company and/or facility goals.

  • Other duties may be assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Is directly involved in hiring and/or contracting all Guest Services personnel, including attendants, security, or other key personnel for the Parking Garage.

  • Maintains effective communications within the Guest Services Department.

  • Keeps subordinate personnel adequately informed of performance expectations and handles employee concerns in a timely and impartial manner.

  • Creates employee weekly schedules, monitors employee’s time and runs payroll reports for the Guest Services department.

  • Creates third-party contracted labor daily/weekly schedules, submits labor orders, monitor’s sign-in/out sheets, and ensures proper invoicing that matches actual hours worked.

  • Ensures proper training and development programs for staff to ensure ongoing improvement and professional growth.

  • Participates in quarterly, yearly, or other evaluations as required.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, business, or related field. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling four (4) years may substitute for the required education and experience.

  • Minimum of eight years of responsible management experience in Guest Services

  • Superior customer service and problem-solving skills.

    Skills and Abilities

  • Solid knowledge of the problems, issues, philosophies, principles, tactics, and procedures related to the management of security and safety services.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as skills in labor and interpersonal relations.

    Computer Skills

Proficient use in various computer software programs including Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook
