City Of Albuquerque Steet Maintenance Worker in Albuquerque, New Mexico

Position Summary

Perform routine maintenance, repair and cleaning of the City's street system; operate and perform preventative maintenance on equipment and tools and learn to perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility.

**This is a Training and Certification Program position.

This is a safety sensitive position subject to random drug/alcohol testing.**

Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements

High school diploma or GED.

One year of full-time general construction experience preferred.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.

Possession of a valid New Mexico Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A within six (6) months from date of hire.

Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.

Preferred Knowledge
  • Basic street maintenance, construction and repair techniques including street cleaning and removal of debris
  • Basic methods and techniques of the building and construction trades
  • Flagging procedures and traffic control techniques
  • Principles and procedures of preventive maintenance and repair
  • Methods and techniques of pavement crack sealing
  • Operational characteristics of construction equipment and tools
  • Occupational hazards and standard safety practices
  • Pertinent Federal, State and local codes, laws and regulations
Preferred Skills and Abilities
  • Learn to perform complex street construction and repair tasks
  • Learn to work independently in the absence of supervision
  • Install replace, maintain, repair and clean street structures, sidewalks, roadways, curbs and gutters
  • Safely operate vehicles with trailer in tow
  • Operate a variety of light construction equipment and trucks in a safe and effective manner
  • Utilize prescribed radio procedures to communicate with field and base
  • Follow oral and written instructions
  • Communicate clearly and concisely
  • Perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
