Job Summary and Qualifications

  • The MICU Manager is responsible for providing care to critical care patients, managing the provision of adequate and competent staffing, addresses any issues that affect desired patient outcomes, ensures departmental compliance with regulatory and The Joint Commission requirements.

  • The Manager will also monitor and adhere to annual hospital operating budgets, implement cost-effective strategies in staffing and supply management decisions and assist staff in providing patient care services as needed.

  • Demonstrates an understanding of and adheres to RRMC values – ICARE.

  • Conduct reinforces and reflects RRMC’s values and promotes the Code of Conduct. Meets the leadership obligations under the Ethics and Compliance program. This includes demonstrating and understanding of and adhering to the Code of Conduct.

  • The Quality of service provided by the department is very good as indicated by a combination of information available through customer surveys, professional standards, accrediting agencies, governmental standards, informal feedback, employee surveys, and direct observation.

  • Operates the department within budget.

  • Manages the productivity of the department with budget.

  • Consistently demonstrates positive interpersonal relations with all constituencies – including other departments, patients, physicians, and community

  • Integrates the service into RRMC’s primary functions.

  • Coordinates and integrates interdepartmental and intradepartmental services.

  • Develops and implements policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of services.

  • Recommends a sufficient number of qualified and competent persons to provide the services of the department.

  • Determines the qualifications and competence of department employees.

  • Continuously assesses and improves the performance of services provided by the department.

  • Maintains quality control programs, as appropriate.

  • Orients and provides in-service training and continuing education to all department employees.

  • Recommends space and other resources needed by the department.

  • Participates in the selection of sources for needed services not provided by the department or the medical center.

What qualifications you will need:

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:

  • Graduate of a Nursing Program from an accredited school; BSN required.

  • Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Louisiana.

  • BCLS to be completed within 30 days of hire.

ACLS to be completed within 30 days of hire.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous critical care experience preferred.

  • Previous management experience preferred.
