Job Summary and Qualifications

  • The Emergency Department Clinical Manager is responsible for the supervision of departmental activity and personnel in rendering high quality, compassionate and efficient emergency patient care.

  • Ability to handle the stresses of a crisis situation and still display a tolerant, calm appearance and professional attitude.

  • The Nurse Manager of Emergency Department should also possess leadership qualities and abilities and should be able to delegate authority and accept responsibility for own actions and the actions of those under their supervision.

  • The Nurse Manager of Emergency Department is responsible for assisting with the oversight of daily operations of the Emergency Department.

  • The Nurse Manager of Emergency Department manages all staff members in the Emergency Department and works closely with medical staff members as well.

  • The Nurse Manager of Emergency Department maintains an active role in community education and serves as a resource person for the Emergency Department.

  • Implements, instructs, and monitors Emergency Nursing Standards of Care in the emergency setting.

  • Reviews personnel skill mix.

  • Active participant in PI projects within the ED and in conjunction with other departments as appropriate.

  • Assures proper documentation to comply with legal and regulatory requirements.

  • Monitors staffing pattern.

  • Monitors productivity to maintain effective resource utilization.

  • Organizes and directs departmental and educational meetings.

  • Actively participates in multidisciplinary teams for performance improvement.

What qualifications you will need:

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:

  • Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Louisiana.

  • BSN preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • At least three years’ experience in Emergency Nursing practice with preferred experience in Critical Care.
