Patent and Trademark Office Supervisory Quality Control Specialist in Alexandria, Virginia

This position is located in the Office of Patent Application Processing (OPAP)/Front End Processing (FEP Division/FEP Branch. The incumbent serves as a Supervisor Quality Control Specialist who will provide technical and analytical expertise and assistance in the quality control process review. Responsibilities The physical worksite for this position is located in Alexandria, Virginia.This position is telework eligible per agency and business unit discretion/policy. This role is the ideal next career step for you if: You want to play a key role inspecting, evaluating and validating the quality and accuracy of patent document codes and document images within Patent automation systems, correcting discrepancies with patent document codes, and conducting data review and data evaluation. You are well versed in coordinating tracking, and managing all studies related to the Branch's programs and processes in support of the FEP mission. You are a leader who will perform the full range of first level supervisory and personnel management responsibilities directly over assigned subordinates employees. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications You must meet the United States Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) qualification requirements (including specialized experience and/or educational requirements) for the advertised position. Specialized Experience is experience that has equipped applicants with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the federal service. For this position, the next lower grade level is a GS-11. Specialized experience for this position includes: providing analytical and technical expertise and assistance in the quality control process review and evaluation of the preparation of paper submissions of new patent applications and follow-on documents and supervise subordinate employees engaged in the quality control work. Plans, directs, manages, and supervises the functions and daily operations of a Team within the Front-End Processing (FEP) Branch engaged in quality control functions. Develops goals and objectives for the assigned Team. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Education Education may not be substituted for specialized experience at this grade level. This is a Non-Bargaining Unit position. This is a Public Trust position and has a risk level designation of "moderate." Supervisory Probationary Period- If selected, you may be required to complete an initial one-year supervisory probationary period.
