The North Polk Community School District is a progressive educational community located in the Des Moines metro area just north of Ankeny serving the communities of Alleman, Elkhart, Polk City, and Sheldahl. The District proudly serves over 2200 learners from preschool through 12th grade in five buildings (West Elementary, PK thru 2nd; Big Creek Elementary, 3-5th; Central Elementary, PK thru 5th, Middle School, 6th-8th; and High School, 9th-12th).

North Polk High School, located in Alleman, is seeking to hire an Assistant Senior Trip Sponsor.

Compensation:$247.00 annually

Basic Function:Be the primary assistant to Senior Trip Sponsor to collaborate with students, guardians, and stakeholders to coordinate and plan senior trip logistics; Develop the group to utilize students’ strengths and improve on weaknesses while fostering school spirit and self-esteem; Maintain a good working relationship with all team/staff members.

Essential Functions: Provide supervision at all meetings and events.

Ability to assist in leading the group in all areas.

Ability to maintain safe conditions and/or react responsibly to accidents.

Ability to effectively assist with managing paperwork and organization.

Ability to communicate at high levels with students, staff, and guardians

Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Peformance Responsibilities:

  • Attend and provide supervision and direction during entirety of senior trip.

  • Assist with scheduling and attend planning meetings for senior trip. Coordinate duties of chaperones.

  • Participate in meetings, in-service training, and workshops for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions

  • Maintain security by following established internal control procedures

  • Complete transportation requests.

  • Provide applicable event communications to community.

  • Provide proper supervision during all related events.

  • Understand, support, and explain rules as set forth by the Department of Education.

  • Responsible for conduct and discipline during events.

  • Maintain appropriate professional conduct towards community.

  • Motivate students to improve and work to increase morale; promote participation.

  • Use proper procedures when ordering equipment and supplies.

  • Maintain appropriate public relations with media, support groups, parents, and volunteers.

  • Promote the activity, event, or group within the school and community.

  • Maintain open lines of communication with students.

  • Promote school and community spirit.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Specifications/Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a sponsor, preferred.

  • Demonstrated aptitude or competency for assigned responsibilities.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
