This part-time library position includes checking library material in and out, shelving books and materials, filing newspapers and periodicals and assisting the patrons of the Public Library. Applicants should have excellent communication skills and be able to provide great customer service to create a friendly, welcoming environment for the public.

In This Position, You Will:

• Check books in and out for patrons, assist individuals accessing computer systems.
• Assist in maintaining the library by straightening books, chairs, watering plants and emptying trash.
• Answer the phones, run errands, assist in setting up for meetings and classes.

About the Position Type

This part time position is paid hourly with scheduled hours ranging from 5-10 hours per week. Typical scheduled hours are between 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm Monday through Thurs, and 10:00 am - 2:00 pm on Saturday. Summer hours may vary.

Location and Hours

This position is located at the Alliance Public Library at 1750 Sweetwater. Library hours are Monday through Thursday 8:00 am - 6:00 pm, Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, and Saturday from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm. Summer hours may vary.

Need to Have

• Combination of experience and training equivalent to concurrent study at a high school.
• Skill in keyboard and computer data entry.
• Some knowledge of library organization and purpose; knowledge of alphabetical filing; some knowledge of general office practice is a plus.
