Innova-Tech Solutions Corp. Financial Manager (Controller/Analyst) in Alpena, Michigan

Innova-Tech Solutions Corp. is seeking a Financial Manager (Analyst/Controller) to join its team working with industrial sales and manufacturing businesses. As a Financial Manager, you will play a crucial role in making sure processes are producing accurate data and analyzing, researching, and developing metrics that matter to bring about effective decision making. Ideally candidates would have experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment as this role is not related to banking or investment analysis. Applicants with experience solely in banking or investment would be the last to be considered. Competencies that parallel a controller or financial analyst would be highly valued in this role. Experience in a start-up environment or small company ($1-$10 mil) would be highly desirable.

Responsibilities:

Investigating issues and proposing actions:

  • Analyze financial statements for multiple industrial business units.
  • Identify areas of concern and investigate the cause.
  • Monitor metrics and trends and report meaningful conclusions for operations to act on.
  • Work with business unit leaders to develop meaningful metrics that will produce actionable data.
  • Collaborate with others to remedy problems and improve business units' market share, customer satisfaction, and profitability.

Developing projections:

  • Work with business unit leaders to gather key data.
  • Develop and present sales, costs, and profit projections for the upcoming 12-24 months by building financial models that are relevant.

Managing Projects and Reporting

  • Lead the execution and completion of projects with key due dates.
  • Develop reports.
  • Review the work of others.
  • Work with business unit leaders and VP of Finance to develop metrics that matter.

Identifying industrial process and controls issues:

  • Watch for processes that are creating significant accuracy issues.
  • Watch for controls issues that are putting us at risk.
  • Recommend updates.

Preference given to those who have:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance. Will also accept degrees in Accounting, Business Administration with relevant experience in analytics and developing KPI's. Candidates without degrees but having the appropriate experience will be considered.
  • Mastery of Microsoft Excel. Essential skills must include use of VLOOKUP, pivot tables, 'If' statements, and graphing.
  • Proficiency with typical Microsoft Office products.
  • Finance experience relating to industrial sales and manufacturing.
  • Passion for analytics
  • The ability to take complex data and present it in a simple fashion.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • The ability to work effectively in collaboration with other people.
