We are currently looking for a talented WATER / WASTEWATER OPERATIONS SPECIALIST to join our growing team in the Alpena, Michigan area. Responsibilities: * Operate and maintain water distribution systems (mains, valves, and hydrants). * Operate and maintain sewer collection systems (pump stations). * Perform water / wastewater treatment plant operations and maintenance. * Respond to water and sewer emergencies. * Perform water / wastewater sampling and monitoring. * Perform laboratory analysis for water quality parameters. * Perform housekeeping and facility maintenance. * Keep accurate records. Qualifications: * High school diploma or GED (or equivalent) required. Associate’s degree preferred. * At least 1 year of relevant water / wastewater experience. * Possession of a Class S-4 or higher Michigan Municipal drinking water certification, or Class L-2 or higher Michigan Municipal wastewater certification preferred. * Valid driver’s license, CDL-B preferred. * Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. * Ability to follow oral and written technical directions. * Ability to multi-task, prioritize and maintain high attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. * Ability to work effectively with employees, customers and the public. * Team player who is willing to pitch in.
