What is it that we do at Colonial Pipeline Company?

Colonial Pipeline is the largest refined products pipeline in the United States, transporting more than 100 million gallons or 2.5 million barrels per day. Colonial transports various grades of gasoline, diesel fuel, home heating oil, jet fuel, and fuels for the U.S. military through a pipeline system. Colonial transports approximately 45 percent of all fuel consumed on the East Coast, providing refined products to more than 50 million Americans.

About Senior Engineer, Project Engineering Position

As a Senior Engineer for Project Engineering, you will provide engineering functional leadership in the development and execution of multiple complex projects and programs within the Project & Field Engineering team. You will serve as the technical lead on the Project Core Team, providing direct oversight of outside engineering firms and internal technical specialists ensuring project designs are developed and vetted within the organization. The Senior Engineer engages internal engineering and utilizes personal technical skills to ensure technical deliverables are in compliance with Colonial’s Standards and Specifications and best project engineering practices. You will interface with internal technical functions such as Engineering, Information Systems, Measurement, etc. and other Core Team functional leaders to ensure technical designs and solutions are appropriately developed and coordinated.

What You Get to Do:

  • Serve as a member of the project core team accountable for the development and execution of the technical scope of work of assigned projects/programs throughout the project/program’s lifecycle in accordance with Colonial’s project management processes, procedures, and tools.

  • Accountable for identifying, contracting, and managing external technical resources.

  • Identify, recruit, and lead the technical sub team, while monitoring and reporting progress to the project manager and core team.

  • Accountable for development, review and quality of the technical deliverables and design documents as outlined in the Engineering Deliverables by Stage.

  • Support Manager and lead reviewing and updating of Colonial’s project management processes, procedures and tools associated with the technical aspects of project management.

  • Support and lead project engineering initiatives as identified and assigned.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Civil, Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Petroleum) from an accredited college or university; will consider a combination of experience and/or education.

  • Ideally, 10+ years of engineering experience with ideally 7+ years of engineering experience in oil/gas or related industry and ideally 5+ years working on projects in oil/gas or related industry.

  • Certified Engineer in Training.

  • Experience working on a project team for $10 million and above projects.

  • Advanced knowledge of oil and gas related codes and standards (API, CFR Part 195, etc.).

  • Intermediate knowledge of general industry codes and standards (ANSI, IEEE, ASME, NFPA, NEMA, NESC, PSM, etc.)

  • Commitment to consistently adhere to policies and procedures and be a positive example for others by demonstrating the Company’s core values of Respect, Accountability, Innovation, Safety, and Excellence in completing work assignments.

  • Self-motivated, have phenomenal work ethic and looking for the right company to support your growth.

Got Extra to Bring?

  • Ideally, 15+ years of engineering experience in oil/gas industry in the design and construction of liquid pipelines and terminals with an emphasis on truck loading racks and blending systems. Ideally, 5+ years of project management experience including creating estimates, project schedules, and forecasts.

  • Licensed Professional Engineer and certified Project Management Professional.

  • Use of fundamentals of proven project management practices and processes (including the project management knowledge areas from the PMBOK guide).

  • Presentation skills with company executives.
