Schedule: Full Time Days, 36 hours a week

Shift: 7am – 7pm

Location: AdventHealth Hospice Inpatient Unit Float in Kissimmee but requires going to our Orlando and Altamonte Spring's locations when coverage is needed.

The role you’ll contribute:

The IPU LPN is responsible for identifying patient/family/caregiver needs and providing skilled nursing and supportive care to patients in residence at the Hospice of the Comforter Inpatient Unit in accordance with the plan of care, and policies and procedures.

The value you’ll bring to the team:

· Provides patient care in a home like setting in the IPU.

· Provides skilled nursing care to an assigned group of patients in the Inpatient Unit and applies palliative nursing principles and techniques in the treatment of patients.

· Ensures that patient is as comfortable as possible and provides nursing care, emotional support and education to the patient/family/caregiver.

· Assesses patient condition and reports change to RN. Administers medications to patients within the patient care plan and physician’s plan of treatment in compliances with the Florida Nurses Practices Act.

· Answers patient’s call bell in a timely manner.

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

· Knowledge of nursing skills in the performance of duties in compliance with the legal and ethical parameters established and based on the level of education and certification attained by the employee.

· Knowledge of patient database system (i.e. Homeworks).­­­­

· Knowledge of procedures and third party financial reimbursements.

· Ability to read and interpret documents such as physician orders, plan of care documents, policies and procedures and other instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

· Ability to follow standard precaution guidelines for infection control, including when providing patient care.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

· Graduation from an accredited nursing school program is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted at the discretion of the Administrator.

· A minimum of 3 years nursing experience in a Hospital, Inpatient Unit or nursing facility environment is required. Hospice experience is preferred.

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:

· A clear/active Florida LPN License and Basic Life Support (BLS) are required. Certified Hospice and Palliative Care Nurse (CHPN) certification, preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
