The Opportunity

This position works out of our Altavista, VA location in the Abbott Nutrition division. Our Nutrition business develops science-based nutrition products for people of all ages, from helping babies and children grow to keeping adult bodies strong and active. What You’ll Work On

  • Estimate project levels of effort and resource requirements by using standard estimating techniques and tools, and by working with appropriate staff to understand scope of effort.

  • Prepare project plans, schedules and budgets by using project management tools such as Microsoft Project and by working with appropriate staff to understand tasks necessary to complete project.

  • Direct project execution by assigning tasks, tracking project schedules, identifying risks, and developing and executing contingency plans.

  • Assure project quality by using standard development methodologies and by working with SQA to develop and execute project quality plans.

  • Communicate project status by preparing standard status reports, and by participating in departmental and customer project status update meetings.

  • Resolve project issues by working with team members, project customers, and others as appropriate.

  • Consult with internal project groups by sharing project management knowledge and assisting or mentoring more junior project leaders in project management processes and techniques.

  • Participate in external project management organizations, conferences and seminars to keep current with industry best practices in project management by joining professional associations and implementing a professional development plan with focus on project management.

  • Establish and cultivate an extensive network of support to facilitate completion of assignments.

  • Participate in the development of less experienced staff by setting an example, providing guidance and work direction, and offering counsel.

  • May lead a project team.

  • Participate in determining goals and objectives for projects.

  • Influence middle management on technical or business solutions.

  • Interact with vendors.

  • Plan and organize non-routine tasks with approval.

  • Initiate or maintain work schedule.

  • Establish priorities of work assignments.

  • Exercise judgment in selecting innovative, practical methods to achieve problem resolution.

  • Provide engineering support to all aspects of the operation.

  • Create technical documentation as required to complete scope of work of projects.

  • Support operations needs as determined by department and site leadership.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree plus 6+ years of related work experience with a strong understanding of specified functional area, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

  • Strong understanding of business unit function and cross group dependencies/relationships.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Degree Preferred.

The base pay for this position is $72,700.00 – $145,300.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
