Summary This position is located within Environmental Management Services (EMS) of a Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center. The primary purpose of this position is to exercise technical and administrative supervision over subordinate workers in supporting and performing tasks. Responsibilities Major duties include, but may not be limited to: The position is delegated responsibility for assigning staff for routine and non-routine duties on a daily and a project-by-project basis. This position is required to coordinate work with supervisors of other services within the positions area of jurisdiction so as not to interrupt patient care or other activities The position plans daily and weekly assignments, scheduling periodic work for areas of responsibility, taking into consideration the availability of personnel and equipment to meet established priorities required to coordinate work with supervisors of other services within the positions area of jurisdiction so as not to interrupt patient care. The position trains staff and ensures that they are using the patient centered care principles. The employee has regular access to printed and electronic files containing sensitive information, which is protected. The position follows oral and written instructions, interprets policies and work procedures as given by the supervisor. The position keeps supervisor informed about significant trends, changing conditions, and major problem areas. The position makes a concerted effort to ensure that employees have adequate training opportunities for advancement, either formally or through job engineering. May be required to acts in the absence of higher-level management within EMS. Performs other duties as assigned. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: The position demands continuous walking, standing, stopping, kneeling, pulling, and pushing. The work requires the use of light powered cleaning equipment (e.g., vacuums) in the performance of duties. Work is normally performed indoors with adequate heat, light, and ventilation. Some work may be performed outdoors where they may be exposed to varying degrees of heat and cold as well as inclement weather.
