The courtroom tipstaff contributes to the efficient operation of the judge's chamber and courtroom by performing various duties that include, but are not limited to: preparing the bench; updating courtroom staff schedules; verifying litigant transport; ensuring microphones and recording devices are operational; setting up remote participation, if necessary; screening witnesses and visitors for appropriate courtroom attire; opening court; swearing in witnesses as needed; completing and distributing court-related paperwork; monitoring activities of jurors; and serving as communication liaison among jury, court, and attorneys. Tipstaff duties also involve administrative tasks such as retrieving and preparing files for court events; assisting with copying, faxing, and distributing mail; answering the phone; and filing civil and criminal notices.
Requirements
Qualified candidates must hold a high school diploma or GED; have at least six months' experience in an office environment; strong customer service orientation; demonstrated accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills; proficient interpersonal relations and communications skills; computer literacy; abilities to effectively diffuse antagonistic dealings; and experience maintaining confidential information.

Applicants should indicate interest between a full-time job (35-hour workweek) with full benefits package, or a part-time job (up to 1500 hours across April 1 to March 31 annually) and limited benefits (pension plan enrollment and pro-rated vacation time).
