Job Description

Located at our American Falls facility just outside of Pocatello, the packaging operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and adjusting the packaging equipment in a manner consistent with production needs and quality standards.

This list includes regular activities expected to be completed by a Packaging Operator in this role. Training will be provided, and additional duties may be assigned by the supervisor.

  • Responsible for ensuring complete package quality of product taking regular checks of weights, seals, codes, glue patterns, etc.
  • Record packaging machinery efficiencies, downtime and fill out reports accurately and correctly.
  • Maintain safe work practices, participate in safety programs, and follow safety rules and practices to ensure the safety of employees in their work areas.
  • Train and monitor the performance of other Packaging Operators.
  • Monitor line-flow rates and perform regular checks for proper feed of product through baggers for maximum efficiency.
  • Monitor and adjust vibrators to gain optimum bagger performance. Includes continuous scraping to allow for optimum product level.
  • Troubleshoot equipment operations, identify mechanical and electrical equipment problems, and take action as needed or by notifying proper personnel.
  • Order packaging material (paper, poly, carton) from storage as needed.
  • Monitor bagger operation:
    • Ensure that baggers are being fed with enough product to run efficiently.
    • Notify team leaders of any issues/problems.
    • Ch ck bag weights and adjust to meet Q.A. standards.
    • Change tapes and wires on jaws.
    • Change paper and poly rolls.
    • Check poly codes with Q.A. and continuously monitor for accuracy.

b. Clean take-away belts.

c. Keep floors clean of debris.
