Amergis Peer Counselor - Amherst, MA in Amherst, Massachusetts

Amergis Healthcare Staffing is partnered with a much respected facility in Amherst MA who is currently seeking Peer Counselors to assist them at their Independent Living Facility.

Details of the position include:

Location: Amherst, MA

Duration: 13 weeks to start, but strong chance of extension

Facility Type: Independent Living Facility

Openings:

  • 8a-6p Mon-Fri

Start Date: Two weeks from offer

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

  • Meet with individuals with disabilities (consumers) to evaluate and understand their needs.

  • Inform consumers about various available programs to assist in applying for and/or maintaining appropriate benefits and resources, such as vocational rehabilitation, social services, MassHealth, Medicare, etc.

  • Coordinate and/or provide various independent living life skills training, peer counseling, and advocacy.

  • Assist consumers in developing an Independent Living Plan (ILP)

  • Work with consumers, the community and local agencies to broaden awareness of organization services.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED required

  • Ability to work independently with little direct supervision.

  • Ability to establish and maintain positive professional business relationships with the branch level leadership and office staff.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Experience with Microsoft office required.
