Summary

The On-Call Clerical position provides exceptional customer services. Performs administrative and office support activities for multiple supervisors. The on-call clerical greets visitors, handles incoming calls, and performs general administrative duties as directed. May also assist other administrative staff with overflow work, including word processing, data entry and research tasks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Answers incoming telephone calls, determines purpose of callers, and transfer calls to appropriate personnel or department. Takes and delivers messages or transfers calls to voice mail when appropriate personnel are unavailable
  • Welcomes on-site visitors, determines nature of business, and announces visitors to appropriate staff members, while ensuring proper safety and security protocols are followed
  • Provides general information in response to inquiries about Ahtna, its mission, activities or personnel. Maintains solid customer relationships by handling questions and concerns professionally and efficiently
  • Organizes and maintains reception area, so as to present a welcoming and professional appearance. Assures that Ahtna marketing materials and other informational literature is current and available for visitors and members
  • Maintains cleanliness of conference rooms, production rooms and assists as needed for preparation of meetings Maintains kitchen areas, monitor foods in the refrigerators, keeps counters clean, dishes washed and put away

Minimum Qualifications

  • Zero (0) to six (6) months' experience working in a customer service or administrative based position
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent, or be able to obtain a GED within 6 months of hire.
  • Must be able to pass required criminal background check and Pass pre- employment drug testing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED

  • Microsoft and office experience

  • Experience and knowledge of Alaska Native cultures

  • Valid Driver's License

Varies, depending on business needs.

Work Environment

Office setting, generally indoors. Office environment with frequent interruptions, high paced atmosphere with tendencies of having multiple tasks being performed at one time.

Physical Demands

Frequent sitting for long periods of time, using hands/fingers, handling, reaching with hands and arms, talking, hearing, and seeing (up close, at a distance, along the periphery, with depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus); occasional walking; standing for up to 4 hours; occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds. Work performed in a professional office setting utilizing telephone, computer and other office equipment.

Qualifications

Experience
