Computed Tomography Technologist I:

JOB DESCRIPTION

The CT Technologist I position works independently to complete a variety of routine diagnostic CT procedures to include common and special CT exams of moderate complexity. This position provides direct assistance to physicians with all diagnostic and special CT procedures. This CT Technologist I position delivers exceptional patient care and adheres to CT exam standards, radiation dose standards and guidelines established by governing agencies to ensure optimal patient safety and customer service. This position is a member of the direct patient care team.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associates of Applied Science

  • Graduate of an accredited radiography program

  • Graduate of an accredited computed tomography program (to include UTMB cross-training program)

  • 0+ years of experience

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS OR CERTIFICATIONS

All below Required:

  • American Registry for Radiology Technologist (ARRT-R)

  • American Registry for Diagnostic Sonography (ARRT-CT) or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board NMTCB (CT)

  • Texas Medical Board certification (MRT)

  • American Heart Association BLS

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Assistsphysicians during diagnostic or special procedures, including assisting with sterile technique.

  • Utilizes AIDET incorporating Key Words and MANGAGE UP techniques, when speaking to patients and family members at an age-appropriate level.

  • Practices radiation safety and ALARA (As Lowas Reasonably Achievable)

  • Follows safety standards and conducts all imaging procedures accordingly.

  • Maintains proper sterile techniques for procedures.

  • Complies withjob role, department and hospital safety standards, practices and policies.

  • Participates in WASTE walks and supports department LEAN projects.

  • Reports near misses and inputs errors promptly into appropriate hospital patient safety reporting system to improve processes and identifytrends.

  • Performs imaging equipment quality control (QC) ensuring all imaging equipment is in safe working order prior to use.

  • Utilizes critical thinking skills to observe and proactively address patient reactions (i.e. medications) or potential outcomes and obtains assistance, as appropriate.

  • Provides accurate and complete documentation of patient procedures. Entercharges at the time service is delivered.

  • Uses resources efficiently; does not waste supplies.

  • Ensures their personal timecard is accurate and approves it in a timely mannerto prevent retro amendments.

  • Participates in department projects or shared governance activities.

  • Seeks opportunities to expand learning beyond baseline competencies with a focus on continual development as a technologist.

Computed Tomography Technologist II:

JOB DESCRIPTION

The CT Technologist II position is an experienced technologist who completes a variety of moderate to complex diagnostic CT procedures to include common and special exams of high difficulty. This position is a member of the direct patient care team and is fully competent in all aspects of CT exams. The CT Technologist II position serves as a mentor and trainerto the CT Technologist I and students.This position works independently by exercising sound judgment and executing above average clinical skills on challenging diagnostic procedures.The CT Technologist II position provides direct assistance to physicians with all diagnostic andspecial CT procedures. This position delivers exceptional patient care and adheres to CT exam standards and guidelines established by governing agencies to ensure optimal patient safety and customer service.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associates of Applied Science

  • Graduate of an accredited radiology program

  • Graduate of an accredited computed tomography program (to include UTMB Cross-training program)

  • Proficient in all CT, CTA, CT Perfusion, CT Cardiac and CT Interventional procedures

  • 3+ years of experience

  • Ensures all imaging equipment has had quality control (QC) performed as required and is in safe working order prior to use.

  • Assists with implementation and education of department based, safety initiatives and standards of practice.

  • Provides accurate and complete documentation of patient procedures. Enterscharges at the time service is delivered.
