Job Summary

Perform, interpret, and report audiologic and electrophysiologic assessments of patients as a member of the Pediatric Otolaryngology and Audiology team. This position is based at C.S. Mott Children's Hospital at Michigan Medicine in Ann Arbor with possible appointments at Brighton Center for Specialty Care or other satellite clinics. Patient population will primarily be pediatric with a smaller number of adult patients if at the offsite location. The position includes hearing technology evaluations, fittings, and follow-up. Experience in bone conduction device and cochlear implant technology is desirable. There is the potential for participation in clinic research activities, educational audiology or electrophysiology testing in the operating room. Community outreach activity is encouraged. The position may also include some functional oversight of technical staff. Physical ability to maneuver and transport wheeled equipment is necessary. Instructional opportunities involving otolaryngology residents, fellows, audiology graduate students, and medical students may be available.

Responsibilities*

  • Comprehensive audiological assessment for a diverse pediatric population.

  • Hearing technology evaluation, fitting, verification, and follow-up

  • Ability to maintain a busy audiology schedule with possible assignments at offsite clinics.

  • Proficiency with electronic medical record (Epic) and various audiology-specific software

Required Qualifications*

  • Doctorate or Master's degree in Audiology

  • State of Michigan Audiology license (or eligible)

  • Certification of Clinical Competence in Audiology, awarded by the American Speech and Hearing Association is necessary.

  • Able to successfully complete Michigan Medicine provider credentialing

  • Clinical experience including diagnostic audiologic testing and hearing aid dispensing

  • Intellectual inquisitiveness. Industrious, attentive, and detail-oriented approach

  • Capacity and disposition to learn from colleagues, being led by standardized clinical protocols that ensure consistent, quality experiences for patients. Staff audiologists new to Michigan Medicine are provided a clinical mentor

  • Superior collaborative skills used within a care team that includes audiologists, physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, and support personnel.

Desired Qualifications*

Ideal candidates for this position will have 3-5 years of experience working with a diverse pediatric population providing behavioral assessments of hearing in children, electrophysiology evaluations (ABR) as well as hearing technology evaluation, treatment and fitting to include hearing aids, bone conduction devices and cochlear implants. Experience maintaining electronic medical records along with organizational skills to manage a busy clinic schedule helpful. Candidates for this position will demonstrate a well-developed set of interpersonal skills, a desire to work collaboratively, and a willingness to invest time, energy, and enthusiasm in developing self/others to help improve performance and gain knowledge in new areas. Additionally, candidates should be capable of proactively identifying new ideas/opportunities from multiple sources or methods to improve processes beyond conventional approaches. State of Michigan licensure in Audiology is required.
