Robert Half Fiscal Manager in Ann Arbor, Michigan

Description

We are in the market for a Fiscal Manager to join our team within the Service industry, located in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The Fiscal Manager will be accountable for the management of financial activities including budgeting, reporting, strategic business planning, and compliance. This role will also involve the management of governmental agency grants and fund accounting.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, communicate, and execute financial strategies to achieve compliance, operation, development, and financial goals

  • Direct the preparation of financial statements (income statement, balance sheet & cash flow statement), operating, expense and budget variance reports, forecasts, and statistics along with comments where required for submission to the Director and Board

  • Identify and manage appropriate internal controls and ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements

  • Design, implement, and manage effective systems to support financial management

  • Oversee all aspects of financial management including compliance, accounting functions, financial and cash flow management, payroll, banking practices, financial reporting, grant management, budgeting and audit processes

  • Responsible for the fiscal oversight of all departmental contracts, billings, and the implementation of performance-based contracts

  • Review, approve and sign all fiscal reports for grants, proposals and quarterly reports to funding sources

  • Review and approve biweekly payroll and all quarterly payroll reports

  • Review and approve the asset and liability account reconciliations monthly

    Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field

  • Five (5) years accounting/fiscal management experience in government or non-profit entity

  • Proven competency in government or non-profit accounting to include budgeting, reporting, strategic business planning, compliance, and general business management

  • Experience managing governmental agency grants

  • Familiarity with grant and fund accounting

  • Effective analytical, problem-solving, and decision making skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Effective leadership, team building, and interpersonal skills
