Summary
The College of Literature, Science, and the Arts, and the Department of Communication and Media at the University of Michigan invite applications for a Lecturer I position to lead discussion sections at 33.33% effort for the Fall 2024 Term. This appointment is scheduled to begin on August 26, 2024 and end December 31, 2024.

Responsibilities*
Responsibilities include attending lectures, leading/teaching 3 individual discussion sections, attending weekly meetings with instructor, hold weekly office hours, grade assignments,
COMM 305.005 - Communication Strategies in the Fashion, Beauty, and Design Industry.
Lecture: MW 2:30-4pm
Discussion sections: Friday 12-1pm, 2-3pm, 3-4pm
This course is designed for communication majors who want to specialize in fashion and lifestyle PR. Students will explore the history of PR in fashion, understand how legacy media has shaped brands over decades, and how the digital revolution has transformed communication strategies. The course places a strong emphasis on practical skills, guiding students through the creation of PR campaigns, crisis management, and the art of storytelling tailored for fashion and design brands. Ethical considerations, the role of influencers, and the impact of global trends on local brands are also a part of the curriculum, ensuring students understand the complexities of the industry. Through a blend of theoretical knowledge and hands-on projects, students will leave the course ready to step into the fast-paced world of fashion public relations, armed with the skills and insights needed to succeed.
Required Qualifications*
Applicants must have earned a Master's of Ph.D. in Communication Studies, or a related field, prior to the beginning of the appointment. Candidates should have a proven teaching record of excellence.

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Lecturers Employee Organization, AFL-CIO, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
