Who we’re looking for
Toyota’s Powertrain Calibration & Evaluation – 1 (PCE1) Department is looking for a passionate and highly-motivated Senior Calibration Engineer .
The primary responsibility of this role is to calibrate the engine control systems to meet Toyota, regulatory, and customer requirements.
Reporting to a Senior Manager of Calibration, the person in this role will support the PCE1 department's objective to calibrate world class powertrains in America!
What you’ll be doing
Execute engine control development activities as a member of a diverse calibration team to meet requirements for North America and global markets.
Complete engine calibration and testing in accordance with Toyota procedures to meet regulations and performance targets (e.g., emissions, fuel economy, OBD, and ongoing production quality).
Project leadership for upcoming Toyota powertrain & vehicle development efforts.
Continually improve software and calibration quality for Toyota vehicles.
Create and execute training materials in areas of technical expertise.
Responsible for data collection, data analysis, and reporting.
Generate and present technical reports on a regular basis.
Interface with other engine calibration functions and vehicle departments.
Develop new procedures & tools for testing, data analysis, and calibration.
Build successful relationships with related vehicle departments.
What you bring
Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related Engineering field; or commensurate experience.
Proven experience in calibration, powertrain controls including hybrid and PHEV systems; and/or related field.
Hands-on experience with engine bench and powertrain dynamometer systems.
Deep understanding of internal combustion engine theory/practice.
Experience with MATLAB and/or Simulink software tools. Familiarity with C or similar programming languages.
Experience investigating technical issues and creating technical solutions.
Self-motivated with willingness to work overtime to accomplish goals (up to 20%).
Experience mentoring & developing new engineers in a professional environment.
This position requires driving. A motor vehicle record that’s acceptable by company standards is required for this position.
Added bonus is you have
Advanced engineering degree.
Experience with hybrid & EV calibration in-vehicle powertrains.
Understanding of emissions regulations for US and other markets.
Experience performing engine calibrations for markets other than the US (e.g., Japan, Europe, China, etc.).
Experience with other programming languages such as Python, VBA, etc.
Japanese language proficiency preferred.
