The Sr. Remediation Engineer will be responsible for and require depth and breadth of experience in remediation control engineering systems. This includes specification, design, programming, configuration, testing, installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of water treatment/remediation equipment. The position will also work with a global team to ensure standardization of control platforms and cooperate with teams on continuous improvement projects and new equipment launches.

The Sr. Remediation Engineer is part of Gelmen Sciences Ann Arbor Operations team and will be based onsite in the Ann Arbor remediation site.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Align technology solutions with business strategies. Primarily working with Allen Bradley platforms and upgrading old control schemes to the latest platform. Primary areas of specialty include: controls (PC/PLC/HMI/Scada), with process and electrical engineering including developing and maintaining programming and systems related to water treatment

  • Investigate and implement technologies that will improve plant operation and strategic performance (e.g. reliability, efficiency, environmental) and technologies that will assist with control system maintenance and analysis.

  • Acts as the principal designer for major systems and their subsystems. Proven track record of being able to understand the design intent of the process and hardware, while ensuring the controls maximize the desired output.

  • Function as a technical leader by displaying strong written and verbal skills to guide teams toward targeted solutions, own and manage the system control changes to ensure proper maintenance and revision.

  • Ability to support after hours on-call on a rotating basis, limited support needed historically.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Process Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field.

  • 3+ years' experience with water treatment or remediation technologies.

  • 5+ years of professional experience designing and implementing control systems (SCADA).

  • Proven experience with Programmable Logic controllers (Allen Bradley preferred) as well as experience with HMI design and build, communications, networks, and instrumentation.

  • Ability to prioritize workload and project demand with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Demonstrated ability to be "hands-on" and to go to Gemba to learn new processes and build subject matter expertise through on-the-job experience and job assignments.

  • Exposure and/or experience in water or waste water treatment associated with batch or chemical processing a plus. Expectation to have experience with PLCs, Electrical drawings, operating systems, and control systems.

  • Proficient use of the following software packages or equivalent: Allen Bradley, Omeron, Siemens, Wonderware, Maple systems, MS Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint),SAP, SCADA Systems, AWS, etc.
