Job Title: Senior Systems Engineer - RF Communication

Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support our aviation communication development needs. This role involves comprehending customer Statements of Need, developing technical requirements, and creating end-to-end system designs for both internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze statements of need and business requirements.

  • Lead highly technical engineering teams on challenging RF-focused projects.

  • Develop RF test procedures.

  • Evaluate communications equipment.

  • Provide analysis for the decomposition of customer specifications and system-level requirements into sub-system and piece-part requirements.

  • Develop solutions with cross-discipline engineering teams.

  • Document technical analysis.

  • Perform analysis of data flows and data logs.

  • Analyze system performance against established performance parameters such as latency, availability, and capacity.

  • Represent the company in industry forums.

Essential Skills

  • Experience with VHF and HF RF technologies.

  • Knowledge in advanced digital signal processing techniques as they apply to Software-Defined Radio (SDR) and Modem development.

  • Proficiency with RF testing tools such as signal generators, spectrum analyzers, cavity filters, and attenuators.

  • Ability to use and report results from RF modeling and simulation tools like MATLAB, SIMULINK, and LabVIEW.

  • Understanding of HF and VHF radio wave propagation.

  • Experience with high power radio transmitters with antenna couplers, operating at RF power levels up to 5,000 watts.

  • Expertise in requirements development and full system life cycle.

  • Proficiency with spectrum analyzers and SDR.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with high gain directional HF antennas.

  • Skills in RF interference mitigation.

  • Knowledge of microwave systems, their installation, and maintenance.

  • Proven communication and collaboration skills to work with counterparts in Avionics, Mission Systems, and Commercial Systems.

  • Participation in industry committees developing interface or communication specifications.

  • Experience with aeronautical communication, air traffic management, or airline operations.

  • Experience implementing architectural changes and customer-driven enhancements to complex systems.

  • Experience with full life-cycle development, testing, implementation, and long-term support.

  • Ability to develop technical product roadmaps.

  • Experience managing the configuration process, functional analysis, timeline analysis, operational scenarios, detail trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies.

  • Experience integrating with external systems operated by other companies or agencies.

  • Ability to analyze performance of complex systems through statistical analysis.

  • Experience in technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk analysis, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.

  • Ability to elicit and manage customer requirements.

  • Experience working in a highly integrated team environment with software, hardware, and network engineers.

  • Knowledge of contemporary technologies applicable to product and market needs.

  • Experience working in communications systems.

  • Experience in a service-oriented business model for engineering.

  • Experience with high availability systems, and understanding of RMA and redundant architectures and design.

Work Environment

This position requires three days onsite in Annapolis. The work environment includes high reliability systems and offers opportunities for leadership training.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $150000.00
