BAE Systems is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer II. In this position, you will be supporting the Combat Mission Systems (CMS) Business at our Anniston, AL facility. This position will report onsite for 1st shift on a 4/10 schedule (Monday-Thursday 5:00 AM-3:30 PM) to support production in a team-based manufacturing environment.

In this role you will work directly with Manufacturing Engineering and resolve weld related issues and provide technical support on a variety of technical tasks. You will also perform activities in a variety of cross-functional areas as needed. Finally, you may interact with internal and external customers with respect to product planning, problem resolution, and process improvement.

As a Manufacturing Engineer II you will:

  • Help build armored combat vehicles, especially focusing on the Bradley Fighting Vehicle (BFV).

  • Apply basic knowledge of the design to create solutions for engineering problems.

  • Evaluate and interpret design specifications, drawings, documentation, models, and/or test results to ensure product built complies with the technical data package, applicable engineering standards and military specifications.

  • Develop and write technical documentation, create revisions to existing documentation, and provide input to technical papers or presentations / may deliver technical presentations.

  • Perform technical assessment, testing, calculations, and evaluation of results to address moderately involved engineering problems using specialized equipment and/or by computer programs.

  • Provide input to project leaders for the development of project plans, schedules, and budgets.

  • Apply basic lean/six sigma concepts to drive improvements to production processes.

  • Interact with various groups including Quality, Operations, Design, and Production.

  • Interact with multiple facilities across the country.

  • Evaluate current processes and develop process improvements.

  • Recommends weld equipment and capital investment strategies.

  • Maintain a safe work environment and ensure compliance with safety objectives and policies.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or relevant technical discipline and 2 years experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Experience identifying, defining, interpreting, and resolving engineering problems involving conflicting design/policy or technical requirements across functional areas and with difficult coordination requirements

  • Can work alone with minimal guidance

  • Able to communicate effectively

  • Hands-on floor support experience, working with shop operators

  • Strong mechanical aptitude

  • May consider candidates with less experience for a more junior role or more experience for a more senior role

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or relevant technical discipline

  • Experience with automotive repair either as a professional or hobbyist

  • Engineering experience with relevant applications in a defense environment

  • Specialized technical knowledge of relevant military and commercial design standards

  • Knowledge of machine design

  • Working knowledge of GD&T

  • Experience with PTC Creo/ProE

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $61830 - $105120

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
