Anoka County Lead Health Education Specialist - SHIP (Hybrid) in Anoka, Minnesota

Anoka County PHES currently has 1 full-time Lead Health Education Specialist- SHIP position open on the Statewide Health Improvement Partnership (SHIP) team. The Lead Health Education Specialist- SHIP coordinates the SHIP team, facilitates community partner awards/mini grants, completes necessary MDH reporting, and assists with community partner relationships. This is a full-time, exempt, hybrid position that is contingent on grant funding. Interviews will take place the week of September 24th, 2024, for those selected to move forward in the hiring process. Pay & Benefits Salary: $70,012 to $84,011 annually ($33.66 to $40.39 per hour). 2024 Anoka County Salary Schedule Grade 34: $70,012 to $98,009 annually ($33.66 to $47.12 per hour). 24 days of paid flexible time off and up to 12.5 paid holidays. Advancement/professional development opportunities. Work Location This position will work at Anoka County Government Center, located at 2100 3rd Ave, Anoka, MN 55303. Expected work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. with the possibility of flexible/hybrid scheduling upon completion of probationary period. Job Duties and Responsibilities These examples are not all inclusive and are intended to be illustrative of primary responsibilities of an Anoka County Lead Health Education Specialist. Develop and sustain strong, collaborative relationships with community organizations, local governments, schools, healthcare providers, and other key stakeholders to advance SHIP goals. Actively engage with diverse communities, including underrepresented groups, to ensure SHIP initiatives are inclusive and address local health disparities. Keep current on changes in health care technology to keep health education program material current. Maintain database, mailing lists, telephone networks, and other information to facilitate the coordination of initiatives. Make recommendations for developing plans and policies towards achieving health education objectives guided by our Community Health Improvement Plan. Ensure adherence to grant guidelines, regulations, and reporting requirements for SHIP-funded programs as outlined by the Minnesota Department of Health. Manage SHIP grant coordination and monitoring, and serve as main SHIP contact with MDH. Provide technical assistance and capacity building for SHIP grants and provide guidance to SHIP staff. Create and convene regular meetings with the SHIP team. Coordinate annual Community Partner Awards/Mini Grants. Provide leaders ip, coaching, and/or mentoring to the SHIP team. Establish priorities annually and develop a work plan with SHIP leadership and Anoka County staff. Evaluate the impact of implementation of SHIP activities in each of the focus areas. Collaborate with Health Promotion and Planning unit and Public Health and Environmental Services staff. Qualifications and Requirements: Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed Bachelor's degree in public health, health education, public policy, or a closely related field. Six years (2,080 annual hours) of job-related experience in public health, public sector, government, relationship building, etc. In lieu of the required education, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. Successfully pass driver's license background check. Must have valid driver's license and vehicle available for business use. Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed Seven years (2,080 annual hours) or more of job-related experience in public health, public sector, government, relationship building, etc. Experience coordinating SHIP initiatives. Physical Demands and Work Conditions Standard office environment. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus, such as to work on computers. Ability to see colors, shades, and brightness. Hearing abilities required for general and phone communication, signals, and machine sounds. Assignments are sedentary, occasionally alternating between sitting, standing, walking, crouching, and kneeling as required to perform job responsibilities. Frequent wrist and finger manipulation to complete computer work. Occasional lifting of 10-20 lbs. Equipment used includes computers, phones, and standard office equipment. Occasional travel to other county work sites as needed. Travel between work sites may require driving a county vehicle and/or a personal vehicle.
