The Anoka Metro Regional Treatment Center has new and exciting opportunities for Unit Security Counselor to join our team! As a Unit Security Counselor you provide a will safe environment for individuals committed to the Commissioner of Department of Human Services (DHS) in a locked setting. Promote staff and patient safety through continuously monitoring and evaluating the environment of care throughout the facility by rounding (gathering information through general observation, direct patient contact, and through employee interactions in a structured way that is proactive and not reactive; handling problems before they occur; reinforcing positive behaviors and providing real time education to negative behaviors; and providing leadership with real time/timely feedback) on patient units and throughout the hospital, responding to and helping de-escalate challenging patient interactions and providing training and skill development for staff.

Minimum Qualifications
Possess a high school diploma or GED.
Demonstrated writing skills including writing legible notes.
Basic computer skills.
Clear verbal communication skills for communications over radio and with patients.
Ability to read and write English sufficient to understand and follow directions and to maintain records and documentation.
