Job Title: Certified Medical Assistant
Job Description
The Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for performing and assisting the physician in the office. This role involves providing high-quality customer service while managing various clinical and administrative tasks.
Responsibilities
Greet and escort patients to exam rooms
Room patients utilizing rooming standards and set up exam rooms accordingly
Interview patients, measure vital signs such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height, and record information on patients' charts
Instruct patients regarding preparation for tests and procedures
Record laboratory, x-ray, ECG results, and other pertinent medical data in patients' charts
Handle incoming and outgoing mail, ensuring the doctor sees all necessary information
Clean and stock exam rooms including monthly instrument cleaning, sterilization of instruments, and refilling of supplies as necessary
Handle patient telephone calls as directed by Triage Nurse
Screen patient telephone calls to the physician and call patients to relay advice, information, and instructions from the physician
Call in prescriptions and refills to pharmacies under physician direction
Schedule special appointments (e.g., referrals, surgeries, x-rays, and lab)
Assess and schedule appointments for patients
Communicate with callers, patients, physicians, and other staff in a polite, courteous, and understandable manner, reflecting the clinic’s commitment to high-quality customer service
Abstract medical information on patients into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
Essential Skills
Certified or Registered Medical Assistant
1 year of clinic experience
Experience with EPIC or other Electronic Health Record systems
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Proficiency in medical assisting
Experience in a clinical setting
Strong charting and triage skills
