ASR Group/Domino Sugar Maintenance Planner - Packaging in Arabi, Louisiana

OVERVIEW

The Maintenance Planner/Scheduler primary role is to improve work force productivity and work quality by eliminating in advance potential delays and obstacles. The position is responsible for the planning and scheduling of all maintenance work performed in the area to which he/she is assigned. This role also maintains liaison and coordination between the operations and the packaging/maintenance organizations.

DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The main contact and liaison person between the packaging maintenance department and other plant departments. Ensures that other plant departments receive prompt, efficient, and quality service from the packaging department and the maintenance department is given the opportunity to provide the services.

  • Plan future maintenance work, to reduce potential delays and maximize maintenance workforce efficiency.

  • Receives all work orders from requesting departments, except for emergency work.

  • Reviews and screens each work order, to ensure that it is properly filled out and work requested is needed.

  • Develop work plans based upon work request and field inspections. Work plans are to indicate scope of what work is to be done and identify critical resources required.

  • Identify and obtains materials (kits as appropriate), entering material needs on the work order.

  • Maintains backlog files of work orders waiting scheduling in accordance with priority limits

  • Verifies availability of parts, materials, and special tools required for execution before scheduling.

  • Develops a maintenance work schedule for the maintenance area supervisor

  • Follows up and reviews the completed schedules and work orders.

  • Responsible for coordinating daily, weekly and monthly scheduling of maintenance plans.

  • Develop standard work order plans for regularly recurring repair jobs, to simplify the planning process

  • Plan, schedule, and execute the planned preventative maintenance schedule.

  • Responsible for ordering parts according to lead times.

  • Procures required outside services, as needed.

  • Updates SAP Plant Maintenance systems

  • Monitor effectiveness of the preventive and predictive maintenance program to minimize plant breakdowns.

  • Properly prepare and distribute meaningful control reports

  • Maintain good labor relations and team morale.

  • Ensure personnel follow all GMP and safety policies.

    WORK EXPERIENCES

  • 3 plus years of maintenance experience within a manufacturing facility or equivalent military experience required.

  • Experience operating SAP Plant Maintenance system preferred.

  • Mechanical/Electrical background necessary

  • Planning/Scheduling experience within a manufacturing facility

  • Have adequate trade knowledge to estimate labor hours, materials, and visualize the job to be performed

    EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field preferred.

  • Technical School background desired

    RELATIONSHIPS

  • Reports to the Packaging Manager

  • No direct reports, but weekend coverage supervision may be required

  • Works closely with operations and packaging supervisors

  • Works closely with stores and purchasing personnel

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated capability to influence stakeholders and drive results through others.

  • Intermediate or better skills in Microsoft Office required.

  • Strong organization skills, attention to detail, ability to be proactive and self-directed.
