Fellow Systems Engineer - R&D Technical Lead We need a highly experienced Fellow Systems Engineer to join our R&D group in the Cardiac Rhythm Management division at Boston Scientific. As a Technical Lead on the Implantable Systems team, you will play a crucial role in developing innovative, best-in-class active implantable medical devices by working closely with cross-functional teams and leadership stakeholders to balance user needs, market opportunities, and business requirements. You will guide the development and integration of complex electromechanical designs, including embedded systems, sensors and algorithms with a team of hardware and software engineers and own the technical decision making, technical risk management and scope control for projects. Your responsibilities will include: You will be responsible for completing engineering activities from early phase development to market release. Your key tasks will include: Providing technical leadership for the engineering team on cross-functional technology development and product development projects. Collaborating with stakeholders outside of R&D to understand current and future market needs and incorporating those inputs into forward looking platform designs. Implementing scope control on projects by weighing the value versus cost and risk of implementing items requested from stakeholders. Making critical decisions on product designs and technical strategy and determining when to escalate recommendations to senior leadership forums. Participating in senior leadership discussions that impact funding, scope or technical aspects of projects. Influencing decisions outside of R&D on projects, including in areas such as Regulatory strategy, labeling content, safety risk management, and clinical studies. Empowering cross-functional teams to make timely decisions and recommendations for project success as well as aligning on escalation criteria when technical lead involvement is required. Identifying technical risks, developing risk burndown plans, and driving the creation of comprehensive risk mitigation and contingency plans across R&D functions. Partnering with Program Management to plan and execute projects within timelines and budget. Coordinating with project team members, stakeholders and upper-level management to effectively communicate project expectations, status, and deliverables. Ensuring effective development of hardware and software systems and associated interfaces. Supplying expertise in multiple roles in the product development life cycle, showcasing deep knowledge of overall system functionality. Reviewing critical project deliverables in both technical and non-technical areas. Providing input and support for submissions to Regulatory bodies and governmental agencies. Training and interacting with field staff and customers to facilitate commercialization of new platforms and features. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or above in Engineering or Computer Science 15+ years of experience in developing highly complex systems with Bachelor's degree (Master's degree may substitute for up to 2 years ofexperience). 5+ years of experience in a technical leadership role in the medical/diagnostics space. Hybrid role - Must be onsite 3 days per week Preferred Qualifications: Experience in the design, development, and testing of embedded, electro-mechanical medical devices. Experience in driving technical trade-off decisions to optimize design, performance, usability, manufacturability, c st-efficiency and reliability. Strong written and verbal communication, judgment, decision-making, and critical thinking skills. Ability to build strong relationships across the organization and with external stakeholders. Demonstrated working knowledge of systems engineering principles, system-of-system architecture, sub-system and interface definition and medical device regulations. Practical knowledge of project management concepts and experience with Agile concepts including scrums, burnups, and retrospectives. Experience with facilitating and overseeing collaboration amongst mechanical hardware, electrical hardware, and software development teams. Familiarity with algorithm and firmware development and implementation.
