It is anticipated that an incumbent in this role will work onsite for three (3) or more days a week and will have a dedicated workspace when working onsite. Work location is subject to change based on business needs.
Summary of the Job:
As a Mortgage Loan Originator at FNBO, you will help customers achieve home ownership by delivering a helpful, easy, and personal mortgage experience. This role takes pride in process excellence by understanding and communicating the mortgage journey from beginning to end. You will be a key player in all aspects of the loan journey, with a focus on the customer experience and needs (both short & long term).
As a Loan Originator you will have the opportunity to develop relationships with existing and new customers to provide advice and guidance on what product will be the best fit for the customer. You will identify and close loan opportunities in alignment with the department’s revenue and profit goals. You will need to have a continuous improvement mindset to bring forward ideas to improve process, training, technology, and customer experience.
FNBO’s Mortgage Loan Originators will work primarily out of the corporate headquarters and be assigned to multiple retail branches. This role will be expected to work primarily over the phone with customers and internal partners.
About This Role:
Key Accountabilities:
Provide an outstanding customer experience by listening to the needs of the customer and providing solid advice and guidance on mortgage loans.
Originate and close mortgage loans while ensuring compliance and meeting file accountability guidelines.
Collect and input complete applications using the FNBO Mortgage system.
Give an excellent customer experience by setting proper expectations and making sure we deliver on our promise throughout the process.
Consult with clients about current and future mortgage needs to help them achieve their financial goals.
Continually look for ways to increase revenue and reduce expenses.
Provide comprehensive, timely and professional written/verbal product solutions to customers.
Meet and/or exceed defined monthly and annual sales goals and contribute to our overall divisional goals.
Meet monthly with manager to review performance goals and expectations outlined in the Mortgage Loan Office’s “Plan for Success”
Provide Mortgage education and support to assigned retail branches
Support FNBO CRA & Fair lending requirements by:
Utilizing FNBO product mix supporting MMCT, Emerging Markets, LMI and specified state bond loan programs
Regular hours of qualified CRA Community Service Volunteer hours
Maintain and grow a comprehensive knowledge of current mortgage products, services, and operating procedures.
Effectively utilize knowledge and all resources available to support team member competency development.
Work in a collaborative manner with internal mortgage partners to ensure customer files are processed in an efficient and timely fashion.
Partner across all areas of FNBO to optimize referral opportunities to meet the needs of the customer.
Maintain internal and external partnerships to provide products and services.
Proactively identify areas of opportunities for the mortgage division to be successful and best in class.
Understand and comply with bank policy, laws, regulations and the bank’s BSA/AML Program as applicable to your job duties
Exhibit professional behavior and promote positive working relationships. Main regular and predictable attendance.

Knowledge, Skills, Education, Experience, and Physical Qualifications
Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Strong sales ability
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated customer service skills
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel applications
Open availability 8am-6pm M-F and 9am-1pm Saturday (central time)
Desired:
Knowledge of pricing and various underwriting requirements
1+ years of experience in mortgage loan origination
Active Mortgage Originator with a pipeline
This position requires S.A.F.E. Act registration with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS). Qualification requirements include meeting applicable financial responsibility, character, credit fitness and criminal background standards. Successful candidates must meet ongoing regulatory requirements including acceptable background investigation and credit report results.
