Job Summary

The Department of Industrial, Manufacturing, and Systems Engineering (IMSE) at the University of Texas at Arlington invites applications for a tenure track faculty position at the Assistant/Associate Professor level in semiconductor manufacturing logistics. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate education, and the ability to secure and execute externally funded research related to semiconductor manufacturing logistics.

We are looking for a faculty member to contribute to the development of innovative technical solutions for semiconductor manufacturing logistics. The ideal candidate will be able to work closely with researchers at UT Arlington and elsewhere across the Dallas/Fort Worth region to conduct projects on various aspects of semiconductor fabrication, testing, and supply chain management across multiple disciplines. This work should contribute to educating the future workforce in the semiconductor manufacturing industry and provide analytical tools to support the development of semiconductor manufacturing logistics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and teach courses to prepare the workforce for careers in semiconductor manufacturing logistics.

  • Lead research projects in semiconductor manufacturing logistics with researchers at UT Arlington, the Dallas/Fort Worth region, and across the country.

  • Establish and maintain a research program through externally funded programs.

  • Assist in directing UT Arlington’s vision to support the semiconductor manufacturing industry.

Required Qualifications

  • A Ph. D. in Industrial and Systems Engineering or a closely related field with an emphasis on semiconductor manufacturing logistics.

  • A proven track record of applying industrial and systems engineering principles in semiconductor manufacturing logistics.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Evidence of leading and developing teams with varied backgrounds to solve complex engineering problems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional experience in semiconductor manufacturing logistics.

  • Experience developing semiconductor manufacturing courses.

  • Ability to build successful relationships with the semiconductor industry.

Department Information

The Industrial, Manufacturing, and Systems Engineering (IMSE) Department Ph.D. offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Industrial Engineering, as well as an M.S. in Engineering Management and multiple graduate certificate programs. It currently has about 500 students and 21 full-time faculty members.

The UTA College of Engineering (COE) provides comprehensive engineering programs with 12 baccalaureate, 13 master’s, and 9 doctoral programs. It has approximately 10,000 students. In addition to IMSE, there are the Departments of Bioengineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Material Science and Engineering, and Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. The COE’s M.S. in Data Science currently enrolls nearly 250 students.
